SECONDARY BUCKLING OF A HEATED CIRCULAR PLATE

Upon heating, a circular plate with immovable edge exhibits buckling, which results in ax-isymmetric postcritical bending. Progressive axisymmetric bending due to increasing thermal load the postbuckling range leads substantial redistribution of stresses and occurrence high compressive circumferential narrow zone adjacent edge. In this case, secondary buckling can occur resulting unsymmetric stress-strain state. The aim present work is study stability behavior equilibrium configurations subjected uniform temperature rise. assumed be radial transverse directions elastically re-strained against rotation, allows one model boundary conditions between two extremes clamped simply supported. analysis performed by semi-analytical finite element method, where unknown displacements are approximated truncated Fourier series coordinate. geometrical nonlinearity taken into ac-count quadratic approximation using Fӧppl – von Karman nonlinear theory. To find states plate, an iterative algorithm proposed requires determination coefficients first second variations total potential energy.
